Code of Conduct
1. Commitment
Africoders is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all members, regardless of background, identity, or experience level. We value collaboration, mutual respect, and the free exchange of ideas.
2. Expected Behavior
Community members are expected to:
- Participate authentically and constructively
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding toward others
- Use welcoming and inclusive language
- Be respectful of differing opinions and approaches
- Acknowledge and learn from feedback
- Support and lift up other community members
- Focus on what is best for the community
- Show appreciation for others' contributions
3. Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include:
- Harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind
- Violent language, threats, or encouragement of violence
- Trolling, insults, or demeaning comments
- Personal attacks, ad hominem arguments, or name-calling
- Unwanted sexual advances or sexually explicit content
- Publishing private information without consent (doxxing)
- Spam, self-promotion, or commercial solicitation
- Deliberately spreading misinformation
- Attempting to undermine or sabotage others' work
4. Diversity and Inclusion
We celebrate and actively encourage diversity. We are committed to creating a space where:
- All voices are heard and valued
- Different perspectives are welcomed
- Underrepresented groups are supported
- Accessibility is prioritized
- Stereotypes and biases are challenged
5. Reporting Violations
If you witness or experience unacceptable behavior, please report it immediately to conduct@africoders.com. Include:
- A detailed description of what occurred
- Names of individuals involved
- Dates and locations (if applicable)
- Any evidence or documentation
- Impact on you or others
6. Investigation and Response
Reports will be investigated confidentially and promptly. Our response may include:
- Discussion with involved parties
- Mediation attempts
- Education or warnings
- Temporary or permanent removal from the community
- External escalation if necessary
7. Confidentiality
We will respect the privacy of reporters and maintain confidentiality throughout the investigation process. Retaliation against reporters is strictly prohibited and may result in permanent removal.
8. Appeals
If you believe a decision was made in error, you may appeal to the moderation team within 30 days with new evidence or information.
9. Commitment to Improvement
We are committed to continuously improving our community standards and practices. We welcome feedback and suggestions on how to make Africoders more inclusive and welcoming.
10. Acknowledgment
This Code of Conduct is inspired by the Contributor Covenant and other community guidelines that prioritize respect, inclusion, and safety. By joining Africoders, you agree to uphold these principles.
